Walmart warehouse workers in Mira Loma, California will be staging a one-day walkout on Thursday. The workers are trying to get the company’s attention so it’ll address what they allege to be unsafe working conditions. The workers are employed by Warestaff, a warehouse staffing company that supplies workers for warehouse work. However, as a Walmart contractor the workers say the world’s largest retailer could put pressure on the contractor to improve conditions. Thursday’s strike action could be a preview of a nationwide Walmart walkout at stores across the country on Black Friday. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is often the biggest shopping day of the year. A number of organizations are seeking to make the strike “viral” using the Internet to spread the word. There’s even an online option to “sponsor” Walmart workers who go out on strike so they don’t lose out on all of their wages.
