Workers at Nissan’s Mississippi plant are trying to unionize with the UAW. Management is running an aggressive anti-union campaign and the workers say that denies the workers a fair and democratic union election. The global union IndustriALL says Nissan’s anti-union campaign is fomenting anti-UAW propaganda, intimidating workers and depriving them of a free choice. The union called it an unacceptable violation of the right to free association. Actor Danny Glover says the Nissan workers deserve an unhindered choice on joining the UAW.
[Danny Glover]: “Of all the struggles of workers around the world for a fair share of the wealth they produce, the Nissan workers of Mississippi stand out to me. From a place that was one of the most important battlegrounds of the civil rights movement to now be the center for global workers rights movement is significant. I am committed to the campaign to win the right to organize for Nissan workers. What I would like all of you to do to show your support for the campaign to stand with me and call on Nissan USA to do better.”
