Labor Radio: March 5, 2011

Workers Independent News Labor Radio Internet Radio Program 03/05/11 Producers: Doug Cunningham & Jesse Russell Labor Radio Rundown: 1) WIN Week In Review Newscast 2) WIN's Doug Cunningham brings you comments from Wisconsin pro-labor protesters who were locked out of the state capitol in Madison all week. A judge has ruled the capitol must be re-opened to protesters and the public. But for several days a heavy police presence barred the doors of the capitol to protesters, the general public and media alike, even physically tackling a Democratic state lawmaker when he tried to get to his office. 3) UAW President Bob King, at a Detroit press conference Thursday, says workers, union brothers and sisters and everyone who cares about justice for workers need to rise up and fight a national coordinated attack on the middle class by the Republican Party. The UAW has set a protest rally for March 14th in Lansing, Michigan. King says 70,000 home health care workers had their collective bargaining rights stripped from them by Republicans. And after campaigning on a pledge not to raise taxes, King says Republicans now want to tax people's pensions in Michigan while giving corporations tax breaks.
