Massive job losses continue with Alcoa’s announcement that it’s cutting 13,500 jobs, about 13 percent of its workforce. Layoffs in December were four times what they were in December of 2007. That’s according to the placement company Challenger, Gray & Christmas, which sys that heavy job slashing could continue through the first half of this year.
