SEIU Local 73 in Chicago is spearheading an effort within SEIU to help returning military veterans find jobs, job training and support through employer partnership initiatives. Phil Martini is Vice President of Local 73.

[Martini]: "It initially started as outreach to wounded warriors and returning vets and placing them into jobs within our jurisdiction. It's evolved from that point to where now we've made employer partnership initiatives with almost every government agency in the state of Illinois."

Martini says Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and Governor Pat Quinn
are doing a great job working to support returning vets.

[Martini2]: "Unfortunately the first time I got to talk to the governor was when he showed up for my son's funeral, because I lost my son in Iraq. And, you know, but through his efforts and what he's done around the state, it just inspired me and it was a way for me, you know, to give back and deal with, you know, deal with my, my loss."
