A lockout at Grain Processing Corporation in Iowa has entered month 15. To mark the occasion more than 200 workers gathered this weekend and asked security guards to let them through the gate so they could return to work while a new contract is negotiated. The company didn’t budge and continues to stand by the last contract presented to the union. The company has said the workers will be allowed through the gates if they ratify the contract. More than 100 workers have retired or moved on to other jobs over the last year. United Food and Commercial Workers Local 86D has made multiple requests for the company to sit down and negotiate, but according to the union those requests have been ignored. The last sit down between the two sides was in June.
