In the New Year the U.S. Senate is expected to take up a jobs creation bill. The House has already passed a $174 billion jobs creation package. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.

[Durbin]: “We’re working trying to coordinate this with House Democrats so that we have a common list of goals. Trying to make it manageable in terms of size because there are a lot of ideas out there. Most importabtl we want something that will have an iimpact on the economy and create jobs as quickly as possible.”

Will this be similar to the economic stimulus?

[Durbin]: “It could be jobs like those in the stimulus. There are parts of the stimulus that we can revitalize or continue. But there are some brand new ideas, too, that I think have some promise.”
