Thousands of working families expected to protest Gov. Schwarzenegger in San FranciscoThousands of workers and their families are expected in the streets of San Francisco today to protest what they say are the anti-worker policies of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tim Paulson is Executive Director of the San Francisco Central Labor Council. [Tim Paulson 1] : "He's traveling the state right now and he's collecting money from corporate interests to basically attack workers' rights." Paulson says Schwarzenegger's fundraiser in San Francisco to finance his anti-worker agenda costs $100,000 a person just to get in the door. Paulson says even former right-wing House Speaker Newt Gingrich thinks its crazy for Republicans like Schwarzenegger to go after working families on issues like pensions and social security. [Paulson 2]: "When they talked about privatizing Social Security or taking away defined benefits, Newt Gingrich said 'Are these guys crazy? They're getting workers pissed off, they're getting seniors pissed off and they're getting the Democrats pissed off." Rights | San Francisco | Posted 04/05/2005 - 5:36pm | 897 reads
