Postal Workers Fight Consolidation In New York City - 10/24/06Submitted by Doug Cunningham on October 23, 2006 - 5:49pm
By Doug Cunningham In New York City Chuck Zlatkin of the Postal Workers Union says The Bronx Coalition to Save Our Post Offices is fighting a mail consolidation that will move part of the Bronx’s mail facilities to Manhattan, creating delivery and pickup delays. [Chuck Zlatkin]: "This is really a subsidy for the largest corporations done on the backs of the general population and the people who work at the post office." The union is picketing against the consolidation in the Bronx on Thursday, and they'll hold a community forum in New York in November. It's part of a national effort by the postal workers union and others to oppose the proposed mail consolidation. |
