The United Auto Workers is reportedly close to a deal on wages and benefits with Delphi, the giant auto parts manufacturer currently in bankruptcy proceedings. The Associated Press, citing anonymous local union officials in Michigan, says UAW President Ron Gettelfinger has told union officials to be ready for a ratification vote soon. Gettelfinger is said to want the Delphi situation resolved before the UAW officially enters contract talks in July with GM, Ford and Chrysler.
