SEIU’s United Healthcare West local in California is endorsing Rep. John Conyers’ single payer universal health care bill in Congress. The 140,000 member SEIU local says like every other industrialized nation, the U.S. should provide health security for its residents as a matter of basic human dignity. The Conyers bill would cover everyone in the U.S. for all medically necessary care, based on expanding the Medicare model.
