Economic Report: Nearly 41 Million Working Americans Can’t Make Ends Meet - 10/17/07

One in five Americans - nearly 41 million people – are working for wages and benefits hat don’t allow them to adequately make ends meet. According to a new report from the Center for Economic and Policy Research, low wages and inadequate benefits mean this huge number of working Americans can’t cover the basic cost of living, yet earn too much to qualify them for government supports like Medicaid and food stamps. The report says universal health care reform would have a huge impact on these struggling working families.
