With fewer demands on the table, the writer’s strike is closer to an end. Jesse Russell reports:

Writer’s are itching to get back to work in Hollywood, but they aren’t quite their yet. In order to move discussions forward the Writer’s Guild of America has removed from the table demands to be allowed to organize reality and animation writers. The guild has argued that they should represent reality show writers because they essentially have to talk hours upon hours of footage and weave a storyline out of it. Still on the table is the core of the strike action – demands for residuals from work appearing on new media. The Directors Guild of America is currently set to vote on a contract that would allow for 2 percent of revenue from work that appears online. If the writers and producers do come to an agreement then it could save the Academy Awards which are scheduled for February 24.
