Smithfield Foods Lawsuit Against The UFCW Will Proceed - 02/01/08A lawsuit by the Smithfield meat plant against the United Food and Commercial Workers will move forward. A federal court has dismissed the unions motion to dismiss the case. The lawsuit is just the latest volley in a 10 year battle between one of the nation’s largest pork processing plants and the union seeking to organize workers. Smithfield claims that the UFCW’s campaign was “malicious” and they are seeking compensation for damages.
