Over 80 food service workers at SUNY Purchase University are continuing their struggle to join the Civil Service Employees Association, AFSCME Local 1000. They're hoping a union will end the harassment, low wages and poor benefits imposed by their employer, Cartwells dining services. Cartwells is a subsidiary of the largest food service provider in the world, London based Compass Group International. Over the past five years there have been more than 63 unfair labor practice claims filed with the National Labor Relations Board against them. SUNY university administration officials are supporting Cartwells' anti-union campaign by calling in police to arrest student organizers and filing numerous academic disciplinary charges against them. Sarah Turner reports. (3:55)
