American Axle Deal Could See Half of Workers Taking BuyoutsOnce a deal is set, half of the American Axle workers are expected to accept a buyout from the company. UAW Local 253 President, Adrian King told the Automotive News on Friday that the union is trying to reach an agreement with the company of a $140,000 buyout for each worker. More than 3,600 American Axle workers have been on strike since February 26. The deal being ironed out could also include "buy-downs" of $90,000 for some employees.
