Women Who Pay Attention This Week May Live Longer - 05/12/08

This is National Women's Health Week and Carolyn Jacobson of the Coalition of Labor Union Women says it’s a chance to get vital health information out to union women.

[Jacobson]: “The Coalition of Labor Union Women has hooked into it with the particular focus on unions and union women to make sure that union women know about the things that they can do to be proactive about their health, the things that they can do that can in fact increase the length of their lives and improve the quality of their lives.”

Jacobson says women can’t neglect their own health while looking after their families. Using health screenings for prevention of things like cervical cancer is one key to improving womens' health.

[Jacobson 2]: “There’s information all over the web. There’s information that we, the Coalition of Labor Union Women have, and it’s a great time to just sort of take stock in what you need to know and follow through. Women are in fact the gatekeepers to the family's health. So really by getting out this information, and particularly targeting women so much can be accomplished.
