The United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club are working toward a future of green jobs for America in the Blue-Green Alliance as we wrestle with finding a solution to global warming. Dave Foster is Executive Director of the Blue-Green Alliance and a former steelworkers official. He says the labor-environmental alliance is pursuing its Green Jobs For America campaign to help achieve a sustainable future both for the environment and for jobs. Foster says the Blue-Green Alliance is working to create a 21st century New Deal for the global economy just as the World War Two generation created a New Deal for the national economy. To build a green future, Foster says, traditional unionized jobs from carpenters, to sheet metal workers to steelworkers will be needed.
