Ford workers in Belgium successfully resist job cuts

Printer-friendly version Send to friendVictory for Ford workers in Belgium - earlier this month the company announced it would lay off three thousand workers at an auto factory in Genk, which sparked daily walkouts by the workers there. The strikes were starting to ripple through Fordâs European production network and had idled at least one other plant in the UK. This week Ford announced it would invest several million dollars in the Belgian plant, on condition that the workers stop the strikes. However, it remains to be seen whether the new investment will affect the planned layoffs.
