As if listeners to the Workers Independent News had any doubt, the National Bureau of Economic Research has made it official; the country has been in a recession since December of 2007. The Bureau is a group of economists charged with determining when economic downturns start or end. Job loss, personal income, wholesale and retail sales, gross domestic product, and real wages are all taken into consideration when determining the state of a downturn.
