Frank Emspak, Ph.D - Managing Editor/Executive Producer
Frank is a life-long labor activist and past president of his AFT local at U.W. Madison, where he recently retired from teaching at the School for Workers. He has written extensively on new technology and work organization, including investigations of factories in many parts of the world where work forces are involved in new ways of organizing their work. WIN grew out of a project of Frank’s at the School for Workers.
Betsy Lawrence - Administration/Finances
Betsy has been involved in all the major social change and social justice movements in the late 20th and early 21st centuries as an activist, staff and volunteer. For over 20 years she ran the grants program at a Wisconsin foundation funding marginalized people throughout Wisconsin. Her parents and grandparents were union activists, and her daughter is a union organizer. She is always amazed and excited by the ingenuity that people use in changing society and their lives.
Ken Pfile - Union Outreach Coordinator
Ken is a former high school English teacher and state union President (IA), and a 21-year school employees’ union representative. He worked for the Wisconsin EAC as Executive Director in their Platteville office during the 1980’s and for the Michigan EA as a lobbyist and Executive Director in the Livonia office until his retirement in 2003. Ken also contracted with the NEA to work in a Michigan Congressional primary campaign in 2004.
Doug Cunningham - Producer
Doug is a highly-experienced radio journalist who comes to WIN from a five-year stint as State Capitol Correspondent for The Wisconsin Radio Network in Madison. Doug has news director and reporter/anchor, AP and UPI award-winning news experience for both commercial and NPR-member stations in Michigan and Indiana. His print work includes 8 years as a co-founder and investigative reporter for The Flint Voice alternative newspaper. His freelance & "stringer" work has appeared on Wisconsin Public Radio, Court TV, Wispolitics.com, Stateline.org, WBBM and WBEZ, Chicago, The Minnesota News Network, The Michigan News Network, AP & UPI.
Jesse Russell – Producer/Web Content
Jesse has a degree in journalism from the U. of Connecticut, where he worked at WHUS, the university's radio station. Since graduating, he has been a staff writer for the Willimantic Chronicle, sports editor at The Glastonbury Citizen, and has trained Transportation Security Administration employees in use of the CTX 5500 explosive detection system at airports throughout the country. In addition to producing for WIN, he is a founder and music writer for dane101.com, and editor and co-founder of the independent publishing company Altered States Press.
Marvin Naftolin – Radio Sales
